6 days tour from Fes to Marrakech via Sahara desert

Your adventure begins as we leave Fes and head south through the Middle Atlas Mountains. Along the way, we stop in Ifrane, known for its alpine charm, and in the cedar forests of Azrou, where wild Barbary monkeys often make an appearance. After lunch in Midelt, we cross the spectacular Ziz Valley with its endless palm groves. By late afternoon, we arrive in Merzouga at the edge of the Sahara, where your desert riad awaits.

After breakfast, we spend the morning exploring Merzouga and the surrounding desert villages. Meet local nomads, visit Khamlia to hear traditional Gnawa music, and see ancient fossil sites. In the late afternoon, climb on a camel for a trek through the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi. As the sun sets, you’ll arrive at your desert camp for a magical night under the stars, complete with Berber music and a traditional dinner around the fire.

We wake early for sunrise over the dunes—one of the tour’s most beautiful moments. After breakfast and a shower, we head to Rissani, the former seat of Morocco’s Alaouite dynasty, and explore its traditional market. Continuing through Erfoud, we arrive at the dramatic Todra Gorges, where high limestone cliffs rise over a clear river. After time to walk and explore, we follow the winding road to the Dades Valley, where you’ll spend the first of two peaceful nights surrounded by nature.

Today is all about relaxation and exploration. You’ll have time to walk through the valley’s lush gardens, see the famous “Monkey Fingers” rock formations, and visit traditional Berber villages. This slower day allows you to truly enjoy the region’s beauty and tranquility. In the afternoon, enjoy tea with a local family or visit a kasbah. You’ll spend a second night in your Dades guesthouse, soaking in the calm atmosphere and stunning scenery.

After breakfast, we begin the journey west. We pass through the Valley of Roses—especially lovely in spring—and visit Skoura’s palm oasis. In Ouarzazate, known as the “Hollywood of Africa,” you’ll see iconic film studios and kasbahs used in blockbuster movies. In the afternoon, we continue to the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO-listed ksar where you’ll explore earthen homes and fortified towers. Overnight in a charming guesthouse overlooking the kasbah.

On the final day, we cross the High Atlas Mountains via the scenic Tizi n'Tichka pass. This route offers stunning views of valleys, peaks, and Berber villages perched on the hillsides. Along the way, we stop for photos, tea breaks, and to stretch our legs. By late afternoon, we arrive in Marrakech, where the red walls and lively medina mark the end of an enriching and unforgettable journey across Morocco.
