6 Days Marrakech to Merzouga Desert Tour

We begin our adventure with a drive across the High Atlas Mountains, enjoying panoramic views as we cross the famous Tizi n’Tichka pass. Along the way, we visit the spectacular Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah, a UNESCO World Heritage site and a popular film location. We continue through Ouarzazate, the gateway to the Sahara, and follow the scenic route of the Valley of Roses before arriving in the beautiful Dades Valley. Dinner and overnight in a traditional guesthouse.

After breakfast, we explore the Dades Valley before heading towards Todra Gorges, a dramatic canyon perfect for short walks and photos. We continue our journey through desert landscapes and Berber towns like Erfoud and Rissani before reaching Merzouga. There, you’ll ride a camel into the heart of the dunes and enjoy a breathtaking sunset. Spend the night in a desert camp with traditional dinner and live music around the fire.

Start your day with a magical sunrise over the dunes. After breakfast, you’ll explore the region around Merzouga: visit Khamlia village to enjoy Gnawa music, meet nomadic families living in the desert, and discover a real oasis. You can also try sandboarding or simply relax at your camp or hotel. This day is about connecting with the desert beyond just the dunes.

We leave the golden sands behind and travel through the palm groves of the Draa Valley, one of the longest valleys in Morocco. Stop in Rissani to explore the traditional market, then pass through Berber villages and volcanic landscapes until we reach the town of Agdz and continue to Ouarzazate. Dinner and overnight stay in a comfortable riad or hotel.

This day offers a slower pace. After breakfast, visit the hidden Fint Oasis, nestled between dramatic rocks and palm trees. Explore the famous Atlas Film Studios if you wish, where many Hollywood movies were filmed. You’ll have free time in the afternoon to relax or revisit Ait Ben Haddou for sunset. Overnight in a riad in the old ksar area.

After breakfast, we begin the return journey to Marrakech, crossing the High Atlas Mountains again with scenic stops along the way. Arrive back in the city by late afternoon or early evening, ending your desert adventure filled with memories of Morocco's rich culture and stunning natural beauty.
